This month's meeting will occur at the Oakland Red Cross in the Board Room. Jim K6JAT will play some emergency preparedness videos, and one entitled "Last Voice from Kuwait" which is about an HF operation during Desert Storm. Doug Wong will also bring the RACES ID card making machine and take photos of anyone who returned their Call Quick form to Jim. He and his staff made 18 IDs at the June meeting and he is preparing 37 more this time.

The July 4 fire patrol was organized into 2 4-hour shifts, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. Thanks to volunteers: KF6GTT, W6CUY, W6UAB, KE6HCD, KE6MQW, KE6HKY, KQ6JZ, N6RCG, and K6JAT.
On Monday, July 19, Jim K6JAT and David WB6NER met with Henry Renteria at the EOC. The construction of the new EOC is nearing completion. The OES takes possession on August 20, 1999. We will start installing our amateur radio equipment in mid-September. Reports were made on various activations and debriefings. RACES will be activated on December 31, 1999 for Y2K monitoring and possible deployment if commercial communications fails. The Oakland Police Department 911 Dispatch Center on Edgewater is ready to be installed. The ECHO system amateur radio sites in the fire stations needs to be surveyed and upgraded.
